The Sankofa
The Symbolism of the Sankofa
The Sankofa is depicted by the image of a bird reaching back to retrieve an egg. It is the symbolic representation of the West African proverb which says, "It is not taboo to go back for what is at risk of being forgotten."
At URBAN Ed all of our efforts endeavor to embrace, embody, and employ this proverb. This is why you will notice the Sankofa imagery embedded into the first letter of our name.
